South Mountain Sunset

Last night we had the evening open so we decided to take a drive up South Mountain! It doesn't take too long to drive to the top lookout and the views are amazing you can see several mountain tops and the whole city of Phoenix!

Along the way up the mountain we saw many different cactus's This one was our favorite, it was huge! Cactus grow in hot, dry places. They have no leaves at all. They have spikes on them to stop animals eating them and have thick stems which store water.

I caught Isaiah looking out into the sunset.

At the lookout you could hike up and down to different levels along the rock.

There was a little lookout fort, Isaiah loved going in and out checking everything out!

"Hi Dad!!"

"Enough Kisses!"

He wanted to walk along the edge and look over, the little dare devil! Making Mom nervous!

Hi Isaiah.

He is just starting to get at that age where he wants to do everything himself. Use his own spoon, brush his own hair, and walk by himself. He did not want to be carried, so there he was walking the jagged rock.

Our new Montero! We just love it and it was great for a trip up the mountain. This was taken on our way down the mountain.

" Bye for now.. we will post more pics after christmas! Love you all!"-Isaiah

  1. GORGEOUS sunset photo of Isaiah! We'll have to get directions from you; we've tried 3 times to find the trailhead to South Mountain and got bad directions every single time! -tam
